Information about the Eagles

The Eagles are the Unicycle-Section from DJK Adler 07 Bottrop e.V.

We started  unicycling in 1993 . At the beginnig we were only few, but soon we boomed.  Since than we organized five times „The Open German Unicycling Championship“  (Offene Deutsche Einrad-Meisterschaft) in Bottrop. This was only possible with the help of lots of friends and sponsors.

In 1996 we decided to go to Guildford to take part in Unicon VIII. It was a wonderfull experience for all of us. This was the most important thing. But we also were successfull. We got 27 gold- 19 silver- and 21 bronze medals

In 1998 we organized the UNICON IX, the „Unicycle–World-Championship,

Bottrop ‘98“ and took part in it. There were Track Races in Stadion Niederrhein in Oberhausen and events in different gyms in Bottrop : Several Unicycle Racing, Wheel Walk, 1ft, Obstacle, Freestyle, Pair- and Group Freestyle, also 10 km Marathon, UMX and Unicycling Hockey Tournament. This was the main action of the year.

In 1999 we went with a small team to the „6. German-Open-Championship“ in Langenselbold and  we were surprised and pleased to win the team-cup.

In 2000  there were two highlights for us. We visited the UNICON X in Bejing with 27 riders and 20 companions (including officials). We won a lot of medals and were also fairly good placed from four to six. The „First-German-Cup“ started in October. Eagles II, with participants up to 12 years, started first time a Group Freestyle. Also Eagles I took part in Group Freestyle winning the second place (Fourth in Bejing). Together with the Freestyle Groups and the Races we were the best team and won the cup of this event.

In 2001 we had a lot of good traditions like unicycle-birthday or meating before the beginning of the holydays:  a forest-tour, playing games together and  unicycling up the slagheap to the „Tetraeder“.  

Ever since march we are meeting each friday, having training for adults „Eagles XXL“. This training is in a gym in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. In the Easter- and in the autumn- holydays we had a big training program and we won again the  Team-Cup  on the event „Second-German-Cup“. In Decembre we had again a Santa Claus Disco in the Luther school gym with a lot participants.

In 2002 a small group is planning to go to Seattle/USA to take part in UNICON XI.
